Anaheim High School Community,
Welcome! My name is Rubén Calleros, and I am the proud principal of Anaheim High School. For the last eight years, I have had the honor of serving this amazing community. What makes Anaheim a truly special place is its rich history combined with a staff and community that dares to dream, is bold and innovative, and will do whatever it takes to be a true center of learning and service.
As we enter the 2026-2027 school year, we embark on a unique moment in the school’s 129-year history. After closely listening to our students, staff, and families, our school committed to three transformational changes: a targeted 4x4 college-style schedule that provides scheduling flexibility and access to college and career readiness, all while reducing student stress; teachers collaborating to connect subject matter to make learning more relevant; and dedicated time for personal student mentoring. We expect these changes to reinforce the idea that learning flourishes through stronger relationships and deeper learning by providing innovative and meaningful instruction along with authentic partnerships with families and the greater community.
Bringing this transformational change to life is a result of students, staff, and families collaboratively working together, along with our district’s commitment to reimagining 21st-century learning by developing both durable and technical skills, all while cultivating students’ purpose and voice. We believe that the combination of these three components is key to producing college- and life-ready individuals, primed to become the leaders of tomorrow. This shared commitment is exactly what transformed Anaheim High School into a national model for community schools, driving some of the highest graduation and A-G rates in Orange County. By holistically nurturing the whole child alongside our families and greater community, we’ve learned that a community school is less about a physical space and more about a shared feeling. It’s an environment where every student, staff member, and community partner feels welcomed, heard, and empowered to lead.
As we embark on this courageous endeavor to reimagine our service, the voices of our students and families will be critical. To build on this great work, we strongly encourage you to join us as an active thought partner to create true shared leadership opportunities. This can be done informally or formally by being a member of our Parent Teacher Student Association, our English Learners Advisory Committee, Community Schools Site Council, or our Parent Ambassador Program. I also host monthly ‘Coffee with Principal’ talks and Learning Walks where you can see firsthand the great things happening at Anaheim and discuss with other families how to better support and improve the student experience. If time is a constraint for you, we still want to hear from you. As a school that models continuous improvement, our progress requires your input. Please ensure you take the time to thoughtfully complete any surveys and questionnaires that help inform our practice.
We invite you to partner with us as we chart this new path for Anaheim High School. Together, we will continue to build a vibrant hub where hope, opportunity, and unity come alive for the Anaheim community. We welcome your feedback and are always here to connect, so please don’t hesitate to visit or reach out. Together, we will empower our students to thrive, discover their purpose, and lead the community into a brighter future.
